Mr. Brackman had been a resident of Hitchcock since 1955. He worked for The Galveston Daily News in the 1950's where he received training in typesetting and composing before going to the Houston Chronicle where he retired after over 30 years of employment. He also served in the US Navy, was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed camping and fishing but most of all enjoyed his family. He was preceded in death by his father Steven Brackman and his mother and stepfather, Cecelia and George Williams. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Brackman; daughters, Donna Brackman Goyette of Tahoka and Sandra Croft of La Marque; grandchildren, Christopher Shane Clark of Santa Fe, Sherry Rene Stephens of Hitchcock, Terri Nichole Stephens of Hitchcock and Donald Eugene Stephens of Galveston; great-grandchildren, Dillon Ray Clark of Santa Fe and Katalina Martin of Hitchcock; brothers-in-law, Jesse Weihausen and wife, Lourie of Houston and David H. Weihausen and wife, Suzanne of Groesbeck.
