☆~ VETERAN, WORLD WAR II (1939-1945) ~☆

Erwin "Pete" Boysen, passed away Tuesday, April 05, 2011, at the Countryside Home, Madison, Nebraska. Pete was born on March 23, 1921, on the family farm near Madison, Nebraska, the son of August and Katherine (Switzer) Boysen.

Pete was raised on the farm and attended rural school. Pete was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church on March 25, 1934. He graduated from Madison High School in 1938.

He farmed with his father. In 1941, Pete showed the Shorthorn Grand Champion and was awarded the Showmanship Award.

On August 19, 1942, Pete entered the US Navy. He served in the Pacific Theater on a PT boat—PT250. Later, he served in F Troop-Military Honor Guard. Twice they received national recognition. Following his honorable discharge on December 17, 1945, Pete returned to farming.

In 1946, Pete married Darline Maurer. They had a son, Dennis, and a daughter, Deborah. They farmed west of Madison.

Pete married Maxine Forgerty Eulberg on March 20, 1973.

Pete's passion was for farming—an occupation he continued into his 80's. He had a strong fondness for John Deere equipment and he enjoyed his livestock and horses.

He had a great love for his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Pete is survived by his wife, Maxine; his children—Dr. Dennis and Cindy Boysen, of Saginaw, MI, and Deborah Boysen Klabunde, of Fremont, NE; Maxine's children—Patty Sloan, of Seattle, WA, Deborah and Terry Podliska, of Omaha, Dr. Mike and Jeanne Eulberg, of Seattle, WA, and Pam and Terry Busteed, of Madison; 5 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister and 2 step grandchildren.

Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Madison, Nebraska, with military rites by the US Navy Honor Guard, American Legion Post 35 and VFW Post 5763.
