Leo Victor Boyers, 81, of 39 Cherry Tree Lane, Harrisonburg, Virginia, died August 1, 2002, at his home. He had been in failing health the past several years.

He was born June 26, 1921, in Rockingham County, VA and was the son of the late Lynnwood Archie Boyers and Lula Virginia Huffman Boyers.

Mr. Boyers served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a sergeant in the 306th Infantry in the Philippines, Okinawa and Japan.

He was a lifetime resident of this area and a member of the Mount Pleasant Church of the Brethren.

Mr. Boyers started working for his father at Tip Top Farms, and he and his brothers continued to operate the orchard. He retired in 1987 due to his health.

On February 27, 1948, he married Rose Cash, who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Vic Boyers, Mike Boyers and Andy Boyers, all of Harrisonburg and Chuck Boyers of Bridgewater; two daughters, Barbara Propst of Weyers Cave and Janie Boyers of Harrisonburg; one brother, the Rev. Auburn Boyers of Harrisonburg; two sisters Thelma Lambert and Leta Wenger, both of Harrisonburg; eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Mount Pleasant Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Richard Hall and the Rev. C. Reynold Simmons. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

His body is at the Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends anytime at the Boyers Home.
