Mrs. Elvia Mary Beers, 80, of 5 sixth Ave.; retired employee of Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Clarion, was pronounced dead on arrival Wednesday at Clarion Hospital. She was the widow of John Merle Beers. Born September 9, 1890, in Cooksburg, she was a daughter of William Franklin and Ida May Cook Boyd. She was married June 21, 1910 to John Merle Beers, who died in 1933. Mrs. Beers was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion. She also was a member of the Service Star League of Clarion and the Golden Emblem Club of Owens-Illinois. Surviving are two sons Merle F. Beers of Oil City and John A. Beers of Clarion, two daughters, Mrs. Todd (Louise) Minich of Franklin and Mrs. Alfred (Betty) Wood of Clarion, a sister Nevada Brosius of Summerville; three brothers, W. S. Boyd of Cumberland, Md., Robert A. Boyd of Clarion and Eugene Boyd of Butler; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A son, William Beers died in 1968. Friends may call at the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. today and Friday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday in the Grace Lutheran Church with the pastor, Rev. Richard Holzer, officiating. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery.
