Merceda E. Bearss
Merceda Eleanor BEARSS, 73, R.R. 6, Rochester, died Friday at noon in Memorial hospital at South Bend.
She was born June 10, 1906, in Noble county, the daughter of Homer and Nellie FRICK BOYD and had lived in this community 38 years, moving from Peru. Her marriage was Nov. 23, 1927, in Fulton county, to George M. BEARSS, who survives.
Mrs. Bearss was a member of the First Baptist church and of the Reiter community club.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Don (Frances) SMITH, Twelve Mile, and Mrs. Juan (Janis) GARCIA, Pueblo, Mexico; two sons, Wendell [BEARSS], Rochester, and Gresham "Bud" [BEARSS], Wavelad; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth BOYD, Kendallville, and Claude BOYD, Angola; three sisters, Mrs. Beatrice EBERLY, Wawaka; Mrs. Richard (Lucile) LONG, Goshen, and Mrs. Fred (Jean) OTT, Ligonier. One brother preceded in death.
Rites will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Zimmerman Brothers funeral home with the Rev. Donald MAUGHAN officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Memorials other than flowers may be made to the Woodlawn Hospital Cancer Detection Center.
