BARBARA (BOYD) BOEHMER

CHARLES CITY — Barbara (Boyd) Boehmer, 62, a resident of Olympia, Wash., died Saturday (Jan. 31, 2004) at her home.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Barb Boehmer was born on Jan. 11, 1942, to Kenneth and Bernice Boyd.

She graduated from Charles City High School in 1960.

On Nov. 25. 1982, Barb was united in marriage to Norb Boehmer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

They lived in Des Moines, where Barb was employed by the State of Iowa, Department of Revenue and the Department of Agriculture for 14 years.

In the spring of 1981, they moved to Salem Ore., where she worked for State Farm Insurance, transferring to Olympia in 1995.

Barb volunteered with the Redeemer Lutheran Church Youth Group and the McKay High School Marching Band. She had many favorite pastimes including reading and traveling.

Living family members include her husband, Norb Boehmer of Olympia, Wash.; and two children, Brent Boehmer of Olympia, Wash., and Kenda Shuman and her husband, Ben, of Portland, Ore.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat and Bill Smith of Des Moines, Marilyn and Dean Good of Council Bluffs, Monita and Russ Engsler, of Garner, Margie and Cliff Kolthoff, of Denver, Iowa, Dan and Jan Boehmer of Janesville, Minn., and Dave and Joyce Boehmer of Charles City; aunts and uncles, Duane and Genny Boyd of Charles City, Lester and Doris Marth of Mason City; and 25 nieces and nephews.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents.

Sunnyside Chapel Funeral Home, Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.
