Myrtle Leone Stine, 92, of Dallas Center died Saturday, July 14, 2001 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry.
Daughter of Plyna N. Boyden and Maggie Ellen Kirgis Boyden, Myrtle was born in Beaver Township in Dallas County on January 31, 1909. She attended rural Charity School in Dallas County and Rhine Valley School in Boone County. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1926. She taught at Springvale and Diamond schools in Boone County from 1927-32. She attended summer school at the former Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.
On June 15, 1932, Myrtle married Gordon F. Stine at the home of the Rev. Charles M. Edmundson in Boone. The couple lived most of their 69-year marriage in Washington Township before moving to Dallas Center in 1996.
Myrtle organized and was the first president of the Washington Township P.T.A. She later served as vice president of Iowa P.T.A. She was township chairman, secreatary and chairman of the Dallas County Farm Bureau Women, district chairman of the Iowa Farm Bureau Women's Committee for eight years and was on the Iowa Safety Committe.
She and Gordon were counselors of the Dallas County Rural Young People for three years.
Myrtle was a member of Minburn United Methodist Church.
Preceding in death were her parents; two brothers, Glen and Howard Boyden; a sister, Pearl Bills Schnoor; and a granddaughter, Karen Hunter.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon F.; three daughters, Carol Hunter of Webster City, Marilyn Webster of Story City and Norma Clayton of Humboldt; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
