PEORIA, IL - Mother Julia A. Boddie, 94, formerly of 215 Sam Stone Ave., Peoria, Ill., passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 12:25 a.m. at Cornerstone Rehab and Health Care Center in Peoria Heights, Ill.
She was born on Feb. 19, 1919, in Tipton, Tenn., to Mary Ruby Boyd. She married John Edgar Boddie in 1939. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are five sons, James (Deanna) Boddie of Bonita Springs, Fla., Charles (Tina) Boddie of Columbus, Ind., Michael (Kathy) Boddie, Kenneth (Eulunice) Boddie and Oscar Boddie, all of Peoria; six daughters, Julia (Benjamin) Boddie-Duncan of Fairburn, Ga., Mary (Donnelly) Morgan, Lillie Lee, Barbara Boddie, Brenda Anderson and Carolyn Boddie, all of Peoria; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a niece; a nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, husband, brother, nephew, son (Billy Boddie) and granddaughter (Kim Williams).
Mother Boddie was retired from District 150.
She was a devoted woman of God, wife, mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed praying and serving God, traveling, walking, reading poetry, cooking, sewing and arts and crafts.
Mother Boddie was a faithful member of the mother's board and choir at Holy Temple COGIC for over 50 years, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Entombment will be in Parkview Mausoleum.
