He was born March 16, 1901, in Biggsville, the son of John and Henrietta McKee Boyd. He married Lola Staley Jan. 11, 1923, in Burlington, Iowa. He was a farmer and worked at Monmouth College, retiring in 1977.
He attended the Biggsville United Presbyterian Church.
