Mr. Boyd was born May 21, 1952, in Martin, Ky., to Arthur and Geneva Christine Osborn Boyd.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force as captain and a former prisoner of war. After moving to Blount County, he became very involved with Bethel Baptist Church in Snead, whose puppet ministry he founded.
Surviving are wife Myra Alldredge Boyd; sons William "Bill" Boyd and Brian Patrick Boyd; brother Donald Boyd; nieces Jennifer Anderson, Teresa Hudson, Stephanie Corlette, and Melissa Otte.
Mike Allums and Wesley Lewis officiated a memorial service Sunday, Nov. 27, at Mr. Boyd's church, Lemley Funeral Home directing.
