Marion L. (Rule) Boyd , 82, of Smithville, MO, died Saturday, September 22, 2001, at Beverly Health and Rehab. Funeral services 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home Smithville, MO; burial I.O.O.F Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:308:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born on August 2, 1919, to Ross and Margaret (Spicer) Rule near Smithville, MO, where she grew up and graduated from Smithville High School. On August 17, 1940, she was united in marriage to Oliver Edward Boyd . After their marriage they lived in Smithville. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1979. Marion worked as an LPN for Spelman Memorial Hospital in Smithville for 30 years. In 1979, she was the second person to receive 30-year award presented to her at the hospital employee recognition banquet. In 1973, she was chosen by employees of the hospital as Employee of the Year. She later worked for Beverly Health Care for 10 years. Marion was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Donald Rule, who died in World War II. She is survived by three daughters, Linda Hill and husband Sherman, Smithville, Sandra Wakeman and husband Ted, Monument, CO, Carol Ann Henderson, Kansas City, MO, five grandchildren, four greatgrand-children, two great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Doris Duncan, Smithville, MO.
