William Boyd was son of William and Catherine (McGrew) Boyd. He was born on his grandfather, William Boyd's farm in 1751 in Cumberland Township, York Co., PA. He married 1) Margaret, 2) Martha Bales/Bails/Balis.


He served in the Revolutionary War: PA Archives, 2nd Series. Vol. 10, p. 220-221,

William and Margaret Boyd had 7 known children:

He died 10 May 1846, at age 95 on his farm in Huntington Township, Westmoreland, PA. His will probated June 18, 1846.


His first wife Margaret is buried beside him. His brothers; John, Robert and Benjamin are next to them in this cemetery. All served in the Revolutionary War.


Occupation: Blacksmith trade, and dealt in land transactions.
