A 1947 graduate of Union High School in Wells County, Erma Lou Simpson, 78, of Columbia City, died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007, at the Oaks Living Care Center in Columbia City.She was born in Huntington on Jan. 11, 1929, to Victor and Olive (Branstraiter) Boxell.Survivors include three sons, Ronald E. (Connie) Ringle of Pierceton, James A. (Joanne) Simpson of Amarillo, Texas, and William H. (Chris) Simpson, Columbia City; two daughters, Cheryl A. (Gregg) Weitzel and Marylouise (Scott) Hofstetter, both of Phoenix; siblings Marilyn (John) Bishop of South Whitley and Max (Marlene) Boxell of Fort Wayne; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marcella Sprinkle and Lila Wilson; and three brothers, Roe, Wayne and Victor Boxell, Jr.Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City, with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. with Sharon Brockhaus officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Jones Cemetery, rural Warren.Preferred memorials in the memory of Mrs. Simpson to Whitley County Senior Citizens.
