Memorial services will be held in the Community Christian Fellowship Tuesday at 10 a.m. for Taft resident Charley Elmer Bowser, 79. Graveside services will immediately follow in the West Side District Cemetery.
Mr. Bowser was born in Lenore, Okla., Feb. 8, 1915 and passed away at his home on Saturday.
He moved to Taft in 1956 and retired from Getty Oil Company after 24 years of service.
He was a former member of the Taft Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. #1527 and a member of Community Christian Fellowship and Taft Lodge #1431, Loyal order of the Moose.
He loved all sports and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Lee Bowser, in 1988 and a granddaughter, Terry Ball, in 1990.
His survivors include his wife, his two daughters, his sister,his 11 grandchildren, and his 15 great grandchildren.
The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Bowser's name be sent to Kern Hospice, 4300 Stine Road, Bakersfield, Ca 93313
Friends who wish may call at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Monday until 8:30 p.m. and again Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. to pay their respects.
