Mrs. C. A. Anderson Died Last Night At Age of 78 Years
Mrs. Mary Katheryn Anderson, widow of the late C. A. Anderson, and a resident of this city for sixty years, passed away at 9:45 o'clock Tuesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Sayers, at 310 Olive avenue, where she had been in critical condition for several days. Mrs. Anderson, who was nearing 80 years of age, had sustained a broken hip last summer, and that combined with the infirmities of age, caused her death.
The deceased was born in Armstrong County on January 1, 1863, and was the daughter of V. F. Bowser and Margaret A. John. At the age of 18, she came to DuBois in 1881, and had made her home here ever since. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, and had enjoyed the reverence of a large circle of friends.
Her husband, C. A. Anderson, preceded her in death in 1905, as did one son, Wesley Anderson, a former employe of the Courier, who died in 1908. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George B. Sayers, with whom she made her home, and Mrs. L. E. Estabrook, of Beaver Falls, Pa., with whom she had been visiting during the autumn season.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Sayers home on Olive Avenue on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Mr. Davis, of the First Methodist Church officiating, and burial will be made in the Rumberger Cemetery. Family links: Spouse: C A Anderson (1843 - 1905)
