She was born June 7 1911 in Turtle Creek, Allegheny County, the daughter of Mosco James and Edna (Price) Bowmaster. She was united in marriage to Ralph Awkerman who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Isabella B. Westcott of Baltimore, Md. and Mrs. Isaphine B. Casper of Shippensburg. There are two nephews and one niece surviving. One brother, Robert, preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Orbisonia Methodist Church. She belonged to the American Business Women's Association and the AFSCFME Union. She retired in 1978 from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue as an auditor.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 24, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home in Orbisonia, the Rev. Richard A. Noll officiating. Interment will be made in the IOOF Cemetery, Orbisonia R.D.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Sunday.
