Gladys F. Aiken, 96, a former resident of rural Elk City, died Feb. 26.
Services and burial were conducted on March 1 in Temple, Texas.
Mrs. Aiken was born July 26, 1902, in Osage County, Okla., to Franklin and Anna (Hartley) Bowman. She received a degree in teaching from Pittsburg State College and taught at Hard Rock School in Chautauqua County for seven years.
She married Verlin Aiken on Dec. 27, 1930, and he died in 1990. The couple lived in Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado and California before retiring and moving to Texas.
