This cemetery was called New Prospect Missionary Baptist Cemetery. When Ft. Benning staff members were compiling a list of cemeteries, they did not know the name and called it "TOMBLIN" because that surname recurred the most among the marked burials at the time of their survey.

Per Britton & Dobbs Funeral Home Records, 1889-1971 (Patsy DANIEL WRIGHT, 2010), p. 803: Mrs. Tempie BLOCKER, residing at 1000 32nd St. [Columbus], died 14 AUG 1934, aged 26 years, 4 months, and 24 days, of cerebral embolus (physician John BUSH); buried 15 AUG 1934 at New Prosepct.
Per Georgia Death Index: Mrs. Tempie BLOCKER died 14 AUG 1934 in Muscogee County, Georgia, death certificate #21945.
1934 Columbus city directory, p. 90, shows: BLOCKER, John J., millworker, residing at 1000 Thirty-second Street, Columbus; street guide, p. 590, indicates that this property was owned by James C. LOWERY.
