Sept. 11, 1995
Doris M. Bowman, 86, 3826S-100E, died at 9:21 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 9, 1995) at Huntington Memorial Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Huntington County, Mrs. Bowman was a 1927 graduate of Rock Creek Township High School. She was a member of the Loon Creek Church of the Brethren, and served as a deaconess for the church and a member of the Women's Guild. She also served as pianist for the Majenica Christian Church and the Loon Creek Church of the Brethren for more than 70 years.
She had served as a 4-H leader for the Rocket Club of Rock Creek Township, was a member and
past worthy matron of the Mt.. Etna Order of Eastern Star, and a mem ber of the Huntington County Farm Bureau Women's Leader Club, Rock Creek Township Extention Homemakers Club, and the O.O.G. Club. She also sewed clothing for Huntington House and the Salvation Army.
She was born Feb. 7, 1909 in Rock Creek Township to Alpheus and Emma Welker Pormen. She married Wilbur H. Bowman June 21,1931 in Rock Creek Township. He survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Rev. Dale Bowman, Copper Hill, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Ernest (Evelyn) Maxwell, Wapakoneta, Ohio; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Calling is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey-Love Mortu ary, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. George Dorsett and Rev. Jim Yaussy-Albright will officiate.
Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice of charity. Services for Doris M. Bowman were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Bailey-Love Mortuary, with Rev. George Dorsett and Rev. Jim Yaussy Albright officiating.
Pallbearers were Terry Sroufe, Michael Hollowell, Mark Bowman, Matthew Bowman, Rodger Brewer, Ron Stahl, and Eugene No (sic). Burial was at Lancaster Cemetery.
