Farmer W. Bowman, 81, of Lebanon, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield.

He was born Nov. 26, 1919, near Lebanon, to Harvey Wilson Bowman and Ada M. Heard Bowman. On Feb. 2, 1942, he married Mary Maxine Fulford, who survives. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clark Bowman; and six sisters, June, Jean and Joann Bowman, Francis Shipley, Elizabeth Vance and Alice.

Mr. Bowman was a longtime farmer and stockman, and very active in civic affairs. He was past president of Lebanon Kiwanis Club, member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 192, had served as president of Laclede County Livestock Association, Tri-County Fair Board, had served on the board of directors at Central Bank 20 years, also on the Laclede Electric Board of Directors, Lebanon R-III School Board, past president of the Cental Division Missouri State Federation of Square and Round Dance Clubs, Levis & Lace Square Dance Club, an active member of Democratic Party, as well as many other organizations and committees.

He is Survived by his Wife, Maxine of the home; two sons, Dan Bowman and his wife, Melody and Ed Bowman and his wife, Joyce all of Lebanon; a daughter, Kathy Tober and her husband Ray, of St. Louis; two brother, Ted Bowman of Lebanon and Robert Bowman of O'Fallon; five sisters, Josephine Stephens of Minneapolis, Minn.; Nadine Rollies of Davis City, Iowa; Bertha Cooper of Kansas City; Connie Hooks of Bakersfield, Calif. and Carrie Nation of Kansas City; a sister-in-law, Mildred "Midge" Bowman of Kansas City; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Farmer W. Bowman were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2001, in the Holman-Howe Chapel with the Revs. Larry Hubbard and David Norbury officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Rose Memorial Park, under the direction of Homan-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.
