Dan King Bowman, 81, of 520 Russell St.. died at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was the son of the late Marshall and Kate Jones Bowman.

He was a retired horse trainer, member and deacon of. Little Zion Baptist Church of Burgin, member of the Loyal Benevolent Society and the Kentucky Club of Danville.

Survivors include his wife. Sue Poe Bowman; a son. Jack Bowman of Danville; two daughters, Beatrice Penman and Bertha Bowman, both of Danville: seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, 10 nieces and nephews, and a great-nephew, the Rev. Barry Bowman. Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Little Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. MM. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Robinson Roe Cemetery in Mercer County. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 : 30 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Jackson Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
