M. Caroline Wagner Bowman, 91, of Harrisonburg, passed away on June 23, 2010.
She was born on Jan. 10, 1919, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Mabel Claire Fraley Wagner.
Mrs. Bowman was a graduate of Berea Academy High School in Berea, Ky., and Bowling Green State University. During World War II, she served in the U.S. Coast Guard and taught in Ohio prior to being employed with Harrisonburg City Schools for 18 years.
She was a member of the Sunrise Church of the Brethren, West Park Chapter 427 O.E.S., Cleveland, Ohio, and W.I.B.C. Bowling Club.
On March 8, 1947, she married Harold E. Bowman, who preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1998.
She is survived by one son, Lawrence "Larry" Allen Bowman and wife, Sylvia; two daughters, Nancy J. Lantz and Margaret "Peggy" Simpson and husband, Mike; five grandchildren, Kevin Bowman, Jason and Crystal Lantz, Zachary and Randy Simpson; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kylie Simpson.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 25, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. The casket will be closed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, at Sunrise Church of the Brethren with Dr. J.D. Glick officiating. A private burial will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Sunrise Church of the Brethren, 1496 S. Main St., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
