Mr. Bowman died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Thelma Heishman, seven miles northwest of here, also surviving are a daughter and 12 grandchildren.

John Bowman, 83, a Sunday school teacher for 63 years and a public school teacher for 32 years, died unexpectedly today at 5:30 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thelma Heishman, seven miles northwest of Mt. Jackson.
Mr. Bowman was a farmer after retiring as a teacher and was widely known. He was a member of the official board of the Wesley Methodist Chapel and an active member.
He was a son of Daniel and Emily Mowery Bowman and was born near Edinburg. He resided in the Readus community.
His wife, the former Miss Virginia Didawick, died in 1940.
His daughter is the only survivor except 12 grandchildren. Two sons, D.Frank and J.Fred Bowman, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held from the Dellinger chapel at Woodstock, Wednesday afternoon at 3:30p.m. His pastor, the Rev. B.W. Coe, will be officiating. Burial will be in Massanutten Cemetery.
