Melissa Jane Thompson was born in New York, New York. She married Charles Bowlsby in New York when she was 18 yrs. old. After they were married they moved to Albion, Michigan where they purchased land and lived there for several yeears and had two children: Ellen Selima and Charles Edwin. Then they moved to Branch Co., Michigan and had the rest of their children: Mary Louisa, Juliette Josephine, Elizabeth juliana, James Franklin, Willard Lucien and Lillian Rosalee. Melissa is buried here in David City Cemetery with two of her little grandchildren who died of diphtheria, Effie Lucretia and Leroy, the children of her son Willard.
