Beulah Juanita Bowles, 104, of Litchfield, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2011, in her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, in Plummer Funeral Home, Litchfield. The Rev. Jay Johnson, Senior Pastor, and the Rev. Tracy Siegman, Associate Pastor of Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield, will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bowles was born on March 9, 1907 in Grisham Twp. near Walshville, the eldest daughter and last surviving child of the late William Sylvester and Victoria (Bailey) Green. She graduated from Litchfield High School with the Class of 1925.
She married John Bryan Bowles on Feb. 23, 1929, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1978.
She was a member of Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield where she was Elder Emeritus, taught Sunday School and Bible School, was a member of the Mary Martha Class and Christian Women?s Fellowship and helped with numerous church dinners.
She was also a member of the Eastern Star and Litchfield Woman?s Club. In earlier years, she worked at the Brown Shoe Co. and The House of Sunshine, both in Litchfield.
In her spare time she enjoyed working in her yard and being with her family.
Mrs. Bowles is survived by: a daughter, Jane (husband Bryan) Bennett of Litchfield; two grandchildren, John Brown of Oklahoma and Dan (wife Ferral) Brown of Litchfield; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Vernon, Clifford, William ?Bud? and Melvin Green; and four sisters, Wilma Marit, Marie Fawley, Iola Eyman and Retta VanSandt.
The family suggests memorials to Union Avenue Christian Church Building Fund or Baker Memorial Fund.
