He was a son of the late Geary and Ruth Fissel Bowers.
Mr. Bowers was a life member of the Kingsdale Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the Adams County Volunteer Firemen Association. He retired from Bowers Excavating and Grading Company, Littlestown.
He was the widower of Constance E. Krichten Bowers, his wife of 57 years, who died in 1993 and is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Eyler of Taneytown, Rita Lefler of Littlestown and Theresa Eyler of Thurmont, MD; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother, Herbert Bowers of Taneytown, and a companion, Ethel Long also of Taneytown.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Kelley; two sisters, and one brother.
