Husband of Katherine L. Bowers who resided in St. Louis, Missouri.

Harold served as a Technical Sergeant & Radar Operator on SB-24J #42-100277, 868th Bomber Squadron, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Garfield County, Oklahoma prior to the war.

SB-24J #42-100277 took off from Kornasoren Airport (APO #704), Noemfoor, Indonesia on a combat strike over Manado, Indonesia. Shortly after takeoff they experienced engine failure and crashed into the sea. The entire crew of 11 was lost in this crash which was due to bad weather (Thunderstorms).

Harold was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.
