He had retired as a Deputy Sheriff with the Kershaw County Sheriffs Department. Mr. Bowers was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir. He was a US Navy World War II veteran having served in the Atlantic Region and a member of the VFW and American Legion.
He was predeceased by a son, Ronnie Bowers, brother, Stephen William "Skinny" Bowers, sister, Iva Louise Bowers.
