Mr. Bowers was the last of 16 or 17 children. His family was the founding family of Sugar Grove as they owned a large grove of sugar maples next to where Sugar Grove is now. They owned all the property up the valley which is now Blue Valley Rd. He and his brother farmed the remaining acreage with long eared mules. The house, barn, weighing & lumber shed, well house, smaller barn, garage & summer kitchen, shelling shed and chicken house we still standing in the 70's. Mr. Bowers was a very kind and loving person. He was lonely for his large family, especially his last brother. He was never married as his betrothed, on her way from Columbus, Ohio, caught pneumonia and died. He showed us her picture often and tears came to his eyes. I miss him greatly. A kinder, gentler soul I've never met. Surely he is in Heaven.Last member of a large family who had at one time over 800 acres in Blue Valley near Sugar Grove, Ohio. He was a member of the Sugar Grove Methodist Church. As he grew up on the family farm he continued this until he died, still residing in the family home which at tha time was located just off Rt. 33. Today that same property is off Old Logan Rd. as it was reworked not many years ago.
