Arval Jay Bowers son of Smith G and Nellie E (Atteberry) Bowers and husband of Vera Lea (Curtis) Bowers.

Final rites for Arvel J. Bowers, 54, owner of Bowers Truck Line, were held Friday aftenoon from the Ingram Funeral Home.

Mr. Bowers died of a heart attack about 7:45 a. m. February 9 while driving a semi on Route 130 toward Grayville. The truck went down an embankment and into a field, without damage to the truck.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Vera Bowers of Albion; two sons, Russell of Memphis, Tennessee and Richard, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Velma) Baxinger of Royalton; his mother, Mrs. Nellie Bowers of Albion; five grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Velma Rix of San Jose, California.

Mr. Bowers purchased his first truck in 1935 at the age of 18 and had operated a truck into St. Louis for his father since he was 13 years old. He held one of the few interstate trucking permits in this area.

Born November 17, 1937, he was the son of Smith and Nellie Atteberry Bowers. June 20, 1934 he was married to the former Vera Curtis.

Rev. Galen Clark officiated at the services, with burial at Graceland Cemetery.
