Allen Bowerman was born May 20, 1844 in Hallowell Township, Prince Edward County, Province of Ontario, Canada. He was the youngest child of Thomas Levi Bowerman and Mary Platt. Allen was married first to Carrie Stephens, and second to Thomasina Hume. The family story was that he came to Los Angeles to live to be near his daughter, who later returned to Canada.
