William M. Bower (1896-1979) was born in Georgetown, Indiana (in Allen, Cass, Floyd, Randolph, or Washington counties.) He was the son of Myrtle (Henderson) Bowers McClave (born circa 1874 in Indiana.)

In 1918 when he registered for the draft William lived at 823 West August in Spokane, Washington and worked for the Great Northern Railway in Hillyard, Washington. At that time his nearest relative was Emily Bower of the same address.

When he registered for the draft in 1942 William lived at 6013 Trent Orchard Avenue in Spokane. He had the same employer as in 1918 (Great Northern Railroad in Hillyard.) His contact person was his father-in-law, G. F. Bursell (1871-1964,) of 1103 Sinto in Spokane.

William and Ruby Pearl Bursell (1894-1992) married circa 1921. They seem to have not had any children; none are listed as being in their household in either the 1930 or 1940 US Census enumerations. Both of those Census reports show the couple living in East Spokane, Washington, and both show William working as an automobile mechanic.
