Betty Barringer, 85, of Bluffton, died at 9:50 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.Born in Bluffton to Lloyd and Justine (Sawyer) Bowen on March 20, 1922, she married Marion L. Barringer in Nashville, Tenn., on Nov. 10, 1967; he preceded her in death on May 28, 2002.Mrs. Barringer attended Bluffton High School before moving to Indianapolis where she graduated. She subsequently graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1951. From 1954 until her retirement in 1976 she worked at the Caylor-Nickel Clinic as a surgery nurse and private duty nurse. She attended the Lutheran Church and served as a director of Lake George Association. Surviving relatives include one daughter, Beverly (James) Taylor of Bluffton; one step-daughter, Kathy (Robert) Johnson of Bluffton; one brother, Jack Bowen of Ligonier; six grandchildren, one step-grandchild and five great-grandchildren.Mrs. Barringer was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Harris, a sister, Marilyn C. Bowen and four brothers, James, Don, Jerry and Max Bowen. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton, with the Rev. Robert Madsen officiating. Calling hours will be from one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery, in Bluffton. Preferred memorials are to the Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana.
