"Elizabeth Harrison Bowen Dies-Another Pioneer Gone - Mrs. Eliza W. Bowen was born, Aug. 12, 1833, at Waynesville, Ohio. She was the daughter of Rev. and Grace Harrison. Her father was a Methodist minister, as was also her grandfather. Their field of ministerial service was in the state of Ohio.

The subject of this sketch lost her mother in early childhood, and grew to womanhood in the home of a beloved uncle.

She was married to George Bowen, Oct. 20, 1859. They moved to Illinois in 1864, and settled near Homer where the family has since lived.

Five children live to mourn the loss of this excellent christian mother. Her husband and one child, an infant, have preceded her to that better land.

The living children are: John H., Edwin L., George E. and Mrs. Anna Ray, all living in or near Homer. Deceased also leaves two brothers and one sister; also, two half brothers.

Mrs. Bowen became a follower of Christ, in earliest childhood, and it is not remarkable that she thus lived a faithful and consistent Christian down life's close, at a good, old age." - Newspaper Unknown, January 15, 1912
