Henry Jackson "Jack" Bowen was my maternal great, great uncle born to parents Henry Hiram Bowen (1876-1933) and Lula J (don't know last name) in 1903 in Lamar (now called Woodland), Randolph County, Alabama. He had one sister, Ophelia Mae Bowen (1898-1939) my great grandmother.
According to the 1910 Census, his parents, Henry age 34 and Lula age 31, had been married for 15 years and they had 5 children with only 2 living, Ophelia age 11 and Jack age 7.

It is mentioned that their mom, Lula, died during another childbirth but unfortunately there are no records of her or the child after 1910. Some family members also stated that Ophelia and Jack were "motherless" at this time so they were sent to be raised by their relatives. Sometime after 1910, Henry married his 2nd wife Naomi Wray (1894-1987) and he brought Ophelia and Jack back to live with them. The 1920 Census shows their dad Henry, age 42, with spouse Naomi, age 24, had 5 more children. Our subject, Henry "Jack", is now age 17 and living with his dad Henry Hiram and stepmom Naomi. His sister, Ophelia married Jodie Clark Bowen in 1917 so she is not listed with the family. The 1930 census shows Henry and Naomi had an additional 5 children between 1920 and 1930 and Henry is no longer listed because he married Fronie Noles in 1928.

In 1928, Jack married Fronie Noles (1902-1995) and they had 2 children, James Hershel Bowen (1929-1996) and Doris Janell "Jan" Bowen Pike (1936-2016). There is no mention of any grandchildren.

The 1930 Census records show Henry Jackson Bowen rented a mill house at Unity Mills, 1407 Park Ave, LaGrange, Georgia.

He had the one sibling, my great grandmother, Ophelia Bowen Parmer (1898-1939) and several half-siblings from his dad and stepmom, Naomi Wray.

He is buried next to his wife, Fronie (aka Francis) Noles, at Shadowlawn Cemetery, LaGrange, Ga.
Rest in peace
