Mrs. Josephine De Lois Wildes Bowen age 77 of Blackshear died Monday afternoon at the S.E. Georgia Health Systems "Camden Campus" in St. Mary's after an extended illness.

She was a native of Pierce County and had lived most of her life here as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry Preston Wildes and Martha Clark Wildes, a brother Clarence E. Wildes and 4 sisters Allie Mae Martin, Margaret Hust, Jeanette Bellisle and Mattie Harris.

Mrs. Bowen was a member of Southgate Baptist Church. She was formerly employed with Gilman in St. Mary's at the Craft Bag Mill and was also a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband Robert L. Bowen, Jr. of Blackshear, a daughter Marrisia Bowen of St. Mary's, a son Robert Daniel Bowen wife Laura of Roswell, Ga., 2 grandchildren Bob Bowen of Colorado and Katie Bowen of Nebraska, 2 sisters Julia Belle Dowling of Callahan, Fl., and Mary Mixon husband Cecil of Waycross, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 11AM Thursday at Southgate Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Waters Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 until 9pm at the funeral home.

The family request that the McDonalds Coffee Club serve as honorary pallbearers and are asked to be at the church by 10:40am.
