Samuel W.S. Bowe, which may be Samuel William Smith Bowe, born 1822 (based on age 28 in 1850 census) was the son of Joseph Bowe and Hetty Lee.
Samuel was probably named after his uncle, William Smith Bowe, the younger brother of Joseph Bowe.
I have no marriage record for him but found a probable son George L. Bowe b 1846.
In the 1850 census, all three lived togethr in one household, Joseph and Hetty, Samuel W.S., and George L. Bowe, so I am inferring the relationship.
In 1865 census he lives with the Barton Family, age 44, placing birth at 1821
In 1880 a Samuel Bowe lived in the household of Annie Abbe in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts.
I have not found any other Samuel Bowe mentioned in the Agawam/West Springfield records that could be confused for him.
Therefore the death date on this page may represent this person, or maybe not.
Note from Dave McCaffrey
Update:
[Stone lying flat on ground, partially covered, but is immediately adjacent to Hetty Lee and Joseph Bowe's stones, and therefore could be parents as referenced in Samuel Bowe's memorial. I will see if I can glean any more details from the stone on my next trip to this cemetery].
