Edward E. "Ed" Bowden Sr., 71, died at 8:22 a.m. Feb. 20, 2009, in the Lima Memorial Health System emergency room.
He was born April 1, 1937, in Lima, to Forest and Malinda Wooten Bowden. On June 27, 1969, he married Joyce I. Waltz, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Bowden had worked maintenance at the BP Refinery. He was a member of Shawnee Community of Christ Church and Shawnee Bowman, past president of the Allen County Horseshoe Club and a former Boy Scout leader. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 205.
Survivors also include two sons, Edward Eugene (Brenda) Bowden, Jr. and Bruce Allen (Donna) Bowden, both of Lima; two daughters, Pamela Sue Maas, of Wemberly, Texas, and Christine Elizabeth Bowden, of Conroe, Texas; a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Judy) Waltz, of Oberlin; a sister-in-law, Carol Waltz Winkle, of Lima; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday at Community of Christ Church, Lima. Pastors David Scott and Robert Deitsch will officiate. Burial of cremated remains will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family.
