Aberle, Leona Pearl (nee Bourgeois), was delivered into God's waiting arms on Thursday, September 15, 2005. Leona was born on November 22, 1911 in St. Louis, MO, of Etta Pearl (Grivet) Bourgeois (nee Davis) and Leon Victor Bourgeois.

Family: She is preceded in death by former husbands, Frederick A. Ruecker (1947) and Norman G. Aberle (1973); identical twin sister, Iona, who died in infancy; sisters, Dorothy Rickman (Bourgeois), Justine Gregory (Grivet) and brother, Paul E. Grivet. She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Frederick A. 'Rick' (Carol) Ruecker and David L. (Nancy) Ruecker, both of Manchester, MO; her grandchildren, Leslie C. (Bradley) Cobble of Destin, FL, Karen E. (Adam C. Eaton, MD) Ruecker, MD of Webster Groves, MO, Matthew D. Ruecker of Cincinnati, OH, Elizabeth A. (Joshua) Breithaupt of Kirkwood, MO, Ryan H. Ruecker and Todd C. Ruecker of St. Louis County, MO; and great-grandchildren, Jessica L. Cobble, Nicole A. Cobble, Alexander R. Eaton and Abigail E. Eaton.
Leona attended Susan E. Blow Elementary, Cleveland High School and Harris Teachers College in 1928-1929. As a result of the 'Depression' she left college and went to work as a bookkeeper, office manager and medical secretary for various employers including the former Morrison Motor Freight, Durand Benjamin, MD, C.V. Mosby Company and Washington University Department of Opthamology, where she retired in 1982. As a single parent, she managed to motivate her children to achieve a higher education and beyond, something that she was never able to complete. She is a 48+ year member of the Venus Chapter #153 O.E.S., lifetime member of the Carondelet Historical Society, a longtime member of Carondelet United Church of Christ, a member of Cancer Sewing Club and many other groups.

Thanks to all of you who made her life meaningful and were always there as loyal friends. She never wavered from her faith in God, always counseling her children to 'put your faith in God and pray!' We love you mom and will miss you but we also know you are at peace in heaven. Services: Funeral Monday, 10:30 a.m. at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS, 7027 Gravois. Interment Mt. Olive Cemetery. O.E.S. service Sunday, 7:00 p.m. Memorials to the Carondelet Historical Society or charity of donor's choice are appreciated.
