Mrs. Jordan died Tuesday, June 5, 2012. Born October 4, 1921, in Winnsboro, she was a daughter of Dr. John Hugh and Lucy McDonald Boulware. After graduating from Mt. Zion Institute in 1938, she attended Converse College. One year later she transferred to the University of South Carolina, where she was a founding member of Kappa Delta sorority and was very involved in student government. She graduated with a B.A. in English in 1942. Later, she organized many reunions of the Class of '42.
During World War II, she worked in Columbia for the American Red Cross, and she continued volunteering for many years. After the war, she met Leonard Robinson Jordan, and they were married in the ARP Church in Winnsboro on December 11, 1948.
Mrs. Jordan played an active role in the life of Shandon UMC, where she was a member for 62 years. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She and her husband, Leonard, were members of Forest Lake Club. She was also a member of the Dianthus Garden Club, The Club and book clubs. She was an avid Carolina and Clemson football fan.
While she didn't consider herself to be an artist, she loved painting family portraits and landscapes. She especially favored copying impressionist works by Claude Monet and signed them "My Monet."
She is survived by son, Leonard R. Jordan, Jr. (Janet), daughters, Lucy J. Fuller and Marian J. Kirk, all of Columbia; ten grandchildren, Donna Jordan Conley (Bill), Mary Beth Jordan Beckerley (Shawn), both of California, Kelly Jordan, Will Jordan, Lil Fuller Mason, Susan Fuller, John Kirk, Kimberly Kirk, Justin Peterson and Sam Peterson, all of Columbia; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Martin and Lucy Anne Steele, both of Winnsboro.
She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years.
