Alfred W. Boulden was born April 24, 1930, in Oakes, ND, the son of Alfred Samuel and Elizabeth "Betty"(Ogden) Boulden. He grew up and attended schools in the Larimore area graduating from Larimore High School in 1948. He earned bachelor, master and doctoral degrees at the University of Connecticut. He lived in New Britain, Conn., until moving to Burlington in 1990. He taught at Central Connecticut State University beginning in 1965 and was instrumental in forming the School of Business, where he served as director of the Division of Business Studies. He later served as acting dean, assistant to the dean, director of the Master of Science in Organizational Management Program and two terms as chairman of the Business Education Department. He served on the board of the Connecticut Business Education Association and was past president of the New England Business Education Association. He also served on the Connecticut State Advisory Committee (Department of Education) on Business Education and received the University's Distinguished Service Award in 1981.
After a long struggle with cancer Alfred passed away June 10, 1995. Services were held at the Vincent Funeral Home, Canton Conn., with burial in the Village Cemetery, Collinsville, Conn. At the time of death he was survived by his wife, mother, one sister and two brothers.
