Eleanor "Ellie" Ann Verhoff of Jefferson City, formerly of Argyle, was born on Oct 9, 1922 at Sedalia, a daughter of Joseph Carl and Margaret Schrankler Botz and departed this life on Feb 3, 2009 in the Missouri Veteran's Home in St. James, MO. She was 86 years, 3 months and 22 days old. Mrs. Verhoff was united in marriage on Sep 21, 1957 in St. Louis to Edwin Henry Verhoff and to this union two children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec 7, 1983; her parents; her step-mother, Henrietta Botz; two step-brothers, Ward Kniest and Jack Kniest; two sisters, Elizabeth Rackers and Mary Frounfelker. Mrs. Verhoff was a US Marine Corp veteran. She was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Argyle and at the time of her death, a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson City.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Verhoff include one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Judy Hentges Verhoff of Loose Creek; one daughter, Carol Verhoff of Jefferson City; two brothers, Joseph C. Botz, II of St. Louis and Fred O. Botz of Sacramento, CA, four grandchildren, Danielle Perrey and her husband, Dave; Krista Verhoff, Sara Verhoff, and Seth Verhoff. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, Feb 6, 2009 in the St. Aloysius Church in Argyle under the direction of the Vienna Chapel.
