He served in World War II as a Navy pilot.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech in chemical engineering and had worked as a plant manager for Phillips Petroleum at Ryton Plant before his retirement.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, served as an elder, taught Adult Sunday School class and was a member of the Bell Choir.
Survived by his wife; two sons - Craig and Steve Botkin, both of Austin; two daughters - Judianne Ambrosio and Becky Botkin, both of Austin; eight grandchildren; Marjorie Botkin of Olney is his sister-in-law.
