William Edward (Eddie) Botkin, age 79, of Bethel, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Salt River Community Care in Shelbina.
He was born October 1, 1931, at Shelbyville, the son of R. B. "Brick" and Beulah Smoot Botkin. On March 22, 1952, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Claggett. She survives.
Eddie is also survived by two children, Eric Botkin and wife Marilyn of Salisbury, and Jayna Utterback and husband Larry of Shelbina; and six grandchildren, Leann, Alan, Kayla and Shari Botkin of Salisbury, and Scott and Brian Utterback of Shelbina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Brent Utterback.
Eddie was a graduate of Shelbyville High School and a member of the Shelbyville Methodist Church. He was a United States Navy Seabee and served during the Korean War. He enjoyed carrying the mail, being outside, fishing and birds. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina. Funeral services were Thursday, June 30, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in Pleasant Prairie Cemetery, northeast of Bethel.
