Jeremiah Botkin was born in Harrison county, (West) Virginia on 31 Oct 1784, son of Charles & Jemima (Curl) Bodkin.

He married Anna Ellsworth, dau. of Moses & Mary (Bumgardner) Ellsworth, in Harrison county on 09 Dec 1806.

They came to present day Clark county, Ohio in 1808, before that county was formed in 1818, having stopped in the settlement on Todd's Fork (with Davissons, Curls, and many other Virginia neighbors) first.

Nine children are recorded for them.
