From the 3/31/1917 Van Wert, Ohio, Morning Times: "The funeral services of Mrs. S.M. Blaine, who died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Earl Mohler of South Walnut street, will be held Sunday. Death was due to asthma. She was 75 years of age and has been a resident of Van Wert for the past 38 years. She is survived by one son, John Calendine of Ft. Wayne, two daughters, Mrs. John Stewart of Van Wert and Mrs. C.P. Strothers of Ft. Wayne."
