Charles Bosworth died Wednesday morning July 10th at 8 o'clock at his home on Main street. Funeral services will be held at St. Luke's Church Friday afternoon July 12th at 2 o'clock.
Mr. Bosworth was born December 29, 1857, near Southbridge, Mass, the son of Henry Alonzo and Samantha Kenfield Bosworth.
His father died when he was eleven, and from then on he worked half of the time for several years, alternating terms at school with a brother. He served his carpenter's apprenticeship, and became a pattern maker, and was a cabinet maker. In 1882, he moved to Brooklyn, going to work for White, Potter and Paige Mfg. Co., at that time the best known cabinet, mantle and picture frame makers in the United States. His advancement in the company was steady and consistent, until he became president of the company in 1905.
Mr. Bosworth had many other interests having been president of the John S. Willard Co., and the Reliance Ball-Bearing Door Hanger Co., and a member of the firm of Chappell and Bosworth, Architects, all of New York.
Having retired from his various activities he moved to Smethport in 1913.
In 1881 he married Mary Eugenia, daughter of the late John C. and Charlotte McCoy Hamlin. Two children were born to them. Wm. Hamlin of Franklin, Pa., and Charlotte Mary.
Mr. Bosworth had been a member of the Union League club of Brooklyn, the Salmagundi [Art] Club of New York, the Sons of the Revolution and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Besides his immediate family, a sister, Mrs. Luther Johnson of Lynn, Mass., and a brother, Frank S. of Brooklyn, survive him.
Many near relatives and friends mourn the loss of a full life, well lived. Citizens of Smethport sympathize with the immediate family in their latest sorrow.
(He is listed in the 1904 edition of Who's Who in New York City and the State, Vol. 4)
