Ruloff B. Bostwick
Ruloff B. Bostwick, aged about 66 years, died about 3 o'clock Wednesday morning at his home about one mile east of town (Indianola) after an illness of about five years from a stroke of paralysis. On account of gangrene in his left foot, his leg was amputated just above the knee last Sunday afternoon by Drs. Miller and Odbert assisted by Drs. Boon, Varner and Holton of Sidell. The operation was completely successful and the patient seemed to be getting along nicely until Tuesday evening when a hemorrhage of the lungs resulted in death. He was a member of the 73rd Regiment, Ill. Infantry during the Civil War. The funeral took place today from the Mosier Chapel, Rev. R.E. Butt of the Baptist Church officiating, after which the remains were laid away to rest in the Michael Cemetery by members of the G.A.R. A wife and four children are left to morn his loss. The old comrades are fast responding to the last bugle call. The deceased was born near Mr. Vermon, Ohio, August 31, 1834. Early in life he removed to the state with his parents near Marshall, Ill. In 1872 he was united in marriage to Cynthia Murdock of Yankee Point. To this union was born four children, two sons and two daughters.
Twelve years ago he was united with the Baptist Church.
