She was married to Derek Fendell Bailey, with whom she had two beautiful children, Olivia and Michael. Cheryl professed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined St. Luke CME Church. She later joined New Hope CME Church when she married Derek. In her service at New Hope, she was Recording Steward, a member of the Missionary Society and Church Choir, and Secretary of the CME District Conference. Through vision and hard work, Cheryl played a major role in the construction of the new church building for New Hope. Cheryl graduated Halifax County High School in 1979 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Virginia Union University with a Major in Business Education. Her education, professional demeanor, and winning attitude allowed her to serve as an employee with U.S. Air Lines, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Jeffress Funeral Home, and Southside Community Services Board. Cheryl is best described as loving, kind, faithful, generous, humorous, "brutally honest", spirit-filled, outspoken, and concerned. She was passionately devoted to her family and her church, always making them first in her life. Even when she knew that her lasts days on earth were at hand, she expressed concern for her family and friends by reassuring them with comforting words. Cherishing precious memories of Cheryl are: her husband and children; her mother; one brother, John Robert Bostick, Jr; nine sisters, Yvonne, Jeanette, Jacqueline and Gail Bostick, Joanne Bailey, Juanita Carr, Wanda Jeffress, Mary Douglas, and Cherri Lindsey; one sister-in-law, LaPena P. Reid; her devoted in-laws, including her grandmother by marriage, Kathleen Poindexter Bailey; five brothers-in-law, Clyde Bailey, Robert Carr, Stanley Jeffress, Keith Douglas, and Quentin Lindsey; ten aunts, Bernice Womack, Mildred Bostick, Ada and Sherry Bailey, Jane Martin, Kathy Sumlin, Amy Bailey-Chandler, Barbara Ambrose, Mary Frances Lee, and Dorthy Fuller; one uncle, Lawrence Bailey, Jr; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
