Benjamin Bosman went home to his Lord and Savior Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the age of 91. A lifelong Whatcom County resident, he was born June 23, 1917 in Lynden to John and Alice (Hendricks) Bosman.

On February 26, 1943 he was married to Pauline Staal in Sumas and together they raised their family and dairy farmed on the Tom Road for 25 years.

Ben had a natural ability to repair things and he enjoyed a second career with DeWaard and Bode installing and repairing appliances. In later years, Ben often would repair appliances for next to nothing if someone needed a little help.

Ben was loved by all for his gentle and helpful spirit. A long time member of the former Everson Christian Reformed Church; the past few years Ben was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church.

Preceded in death in 2005 by his beloved wife Pauline of 62 years; brothers Bill, Herman, Henry, and John; sisters Nellie Terpstra, Elizabeth Triplett, Etta Bode, and Alyce "Toots" Spoelstra, and great-grandson Anthony; Ben is survived by his children: Gayle (Martin) DeWitt of Fairbanks, AK; Janice (Aldon) Kuiper of Rock Valley, IA; Joan Euceda of Bellingham; Eileen (John) Scheffer of Belgrade, MT; Dennis (Annette) Bosman of Everson; and Marlys (Gary) Young of Maple Falls, WA; (18) grandchildren and (16) surviving great-grandchildren; siblings Jim Bosman, Jill Bode, Albert "Shorty" Bosman, Pete Bosman, and Esther "Boots" (John) Rupke of Grand Rapids, MI.


Visitation hours are scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Gillies Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, April 24, 1:15 pm in Monumenta Cemetery followed by a 2 pm memorial service at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 11th and Liberty Sts. in Lynden with Pastor John VanSchepen officiating.
